Michigan Green School
Mrs. Giese announced in the Spring/Summer of 2012 that Fountain Elementary was awarded as a "Michigan Green School" Fountain's Michigan Green Schools application was approved again in Spring of 2014 by the Macomb County of Commissioners and recognizes that our school demonstrates environmental stewardship.
More specifically, to gain "Evergreen School" status, it was shown that our school participated in at least twenty activities within the following categories: Recycling, Energy Efficiency, Environmental Protection, and Miscellaneous. Here are just a few of the activities that made Fountain Elementary a "Michigan Green School"... students and staff paper and ink cartridges recycling, Green team members participated in a Trash Fashion Show, Solar energy activities, adopted an animal, walk to school, fall and spring clean up at Fountain and Lions Park, and our book give away at our district event. In addition, Fountain has sustained a community garden for two years.
